Mr. Melvin, for the Judiciary Committee, reported favorably, with
amendments,

House Bill No. 1—By the Speaker:

Subject: "INTERRACIAL COMMISSION", sub-title "PUBLIC AC-
COMMODATIONS", TO PROHIBIT DISCRIMINATION ON BASIS OF
RACE, CREED, COLOR OR NATIONAL ORIGIN IN PLACES OF
PUBLIC ACCOMMODATIONS.

Amendments to House Bill No. 1
By the Committee:

Amendment No. 1—In line 1 of the title and in line 2 of Section 1
on page 1 of the first reading file bill, strike out the following in each
instance: "and 15" and insert in lieu thereof the following in each in-
stance: ", 15 and 16".

Which amendment was read and adopted.

Amendment No. 2—In line 16 of the title of the printed bill, imme-
diately following the word "origin", add the following: "and providing
that nothing in this Act shall apply to or within the limits of certain
political subdivisions of this State".

Which amendment was read and adopted.

Amendment No. 3—In line 18 of Section 11 on page 2 of the printed
bill, strike out the following: "those establishments" and insert in lieu
thereof the following: "places of public accommodation".

Which amendment was read and adopted.

Amendment No. 4—In line 20 of Section 11 on page 2 of the printed
bill, immediately following the word "taverns", add the following: "; nor
to that part or parts of other places of public accommodation, which
part or parts are primarily devoted to the sale of alcoholic beverages".
