At a SESSION of the GENERAL ASSEMBLY
of MARYLAND, begun and held at the City of
ANNAPOLIS on Monday the fourth of November,
and ended the twenty-ninth Day of December, in
the Year of our Lord one thoufand feven hundred
and ninety-three, the following LAWS were
enacted ;

C H A P. I.

An ACT for the benefit of Jofeph Johnfon, of Charles county.

WHEREAS it appears to this general affembly, that Jofeph Johnfon,
of Charles county, bought of Zachariah Johnfon, of the fame coun-
ty, part of. the referves of Calverton manor, in faid county, fold to
the faid Zachariah Johnfon by the late intendant of the revenue; that the faid
Jofeph Johnfon hath obtained a patent therefor, by the name of Addition to Old
Scotland, and in one of the lines of faid land the furveyor of the faid manor com-
mitted an error, by inferring in the certificate the word "then" in the following
manner, to wit: " Then running and binding with the fecond line of Black Oak
Thicket Reverfed, then north, eighty-three and a quarter degrees eaft, one hun-
dred and ninety-fix perches ;" which line ought to have run thus, "then running
and binding with the fecond line of Black Oak Thicket Reverfed, north, eigh-
ty-three and a quarter degrees eaft, one hundred and ninety-fix perches ;" and it
appears reafonable that the faid error fhould be corrected,

II. Be it enacted, by the General Affembly of Maryland, That the regifter of
the land-office be and he is hereby authorifed and required, on the application of
the faid Jofeph Johnfon, to erafe the word " then," next after the word " Re-
verfed," in the line above defcribed, from the certificate and patent of the faid
parcel of land.

C H A P. II.

An ACT to fettle and afcertain the falary of members of the
council for the enfuing year.
Be it enacted, by the General Affembly of Maryland, That each member
of the council fhall be entitled to receive, for the enfuing year, the fum
of one hundred and fifty pounds current money, for his falary.

C H A P. III.
An ACT to alter and change the name of George Wafhington
Eyers to George Wafhington Nicholfon.
WHEREAS Nathan Nicholfon, of Baltimore county, by his petition
to this general affembly has fet forth, that he has an illegitimate fon,
yet a minor, who has been heretofore called and known by the name
of George Wafhington Eyers, who he is very defirous fhould take the name of
George Wafhington Nicholfon, and has prayed that an act may pafs for that
purpofe; and it appearing reafonable that the prayer of faid petition fhould be
granted; therefor,

be lawful for the faid minor, heretofore called and known by the name of George
Wafhington Eyers, to take upon himfelf the name and furname of George Wafh-
ington Nicholfon, in the ftead of that by which he has been heretofore called and
