C H A P.
LXXXI.

Appoint a col-
lector, &c.

XVI. And, whereas in Worcefter county no collector of the fund tax for the
year feventeen hundred and ninety-one hath been appointed, Be it enacted, That
the faid agent be authorifed to appoint a collector of the faid tax in faid coun-
ty, who fhall give fecurity for the performance of his duty agreeably to law; and
the faid agent may contract with and allow the perfon fo to be appointed, a com-
miffion not exceeding twelve per cent, for collecting the fame; and the faid col-
lector fhall proceed to act in the fame manner, and be liable to the fame duties in
all refpects, as if he had been appointed by the commiffioners.

Render a fair
account, &c.

XVII. And be it enacted, That the faid agent fhall render a fair and full ac-
count of his feveral proceedings under the authority of this act, to the general
affembly at their next feffion, and fhall be allowed for his fervices the following
commiffions, to wit: For all payments made to either of the treafurers on bonds
for confifcated property, one per cent, for all bonds, with fecurity, taken by the
faid agent on refales of confifcated property in virtue of this act, two and a half
per cent, for all monies collected on open accounts, four per cent, and for all
other monies or bonds paid in or taken in virtue of this act, one and a half
per cent.

XVIII. And be it enacted, That the faid agent, before he enters upon the ex-
ecution of the duties of this act, fhall give bond to the ftate, before the governor
and the council, in the penalty of twenty thoufand pounds current money, with
fuch fecurities as the governor and the council fhall approve, for the faithful per-
formance of the faid duties; which bond fhall be lodged with the treafurer of the
weftern more; and fhall alfo take an oath before the chancellor, that he will well
and faithfully difcharge the duties of agent under the act, entitled, An act to
appoint an agent for the year one thoufand feven hundred and ninety-three, to the
beft of his fkill and judgment; the certificate of which oath fhall be annexed to,
or cndorfed on, the faid bond.

XIX. And be it enacted, That if the faid agent fhall not accept his appoint-
ment, or if after acceptance he fhall not give bond and take the oath aforefaid
before the firft day of February next, or fhall die, the governor and the council
are hereby authorifed and requefted to appoint a fit and proper perfon in his place,

who fhall have and execute all the authorities and powers vefted in the faid Ran-
dolph Brandt Latimer by this act, fuch perfon firft giving fecurity and taking the
oath aforefaid.

An ACT for the payment of the journal of accounts.

Preamble.

WHEREAS it appears by the journal of accounts of this feffion, that
there is now due from this ftate the fum of feven thoufand fix hundred
and nine pounds fifteen fhillings and an half-penny current money,

II. Be it enacted, by the General Affembly of Maryland, That the treafurer of
the weftern fhore fhall and he is hereby authorifed and required to pay the
feveral perfons, their executors, adminiftrators, affigns or orders, or fuch of them
as fhall offer to receive the fame, the feveral fums of current money allowed to
them refpectively, as they appear to be fettled and afcertained by the faid journal
of accounts, out of any money now in the treafury, or that fhall come into the
treafury.

RESOLUTIONS affented to November Seffion, 1792.

RESOLVED, That the regifter of the land-office for the weftern fhore, on payment of the
ufual fees, be and he is hereby authorifed and directed to grant to Edward Abell, of Saint-
Mary's county, a patent for the two lots of land fituate and lying in Mill manor, in Saint-
Mary's county, which were purchafed of the commiffioners of confifcated property by Mi-
chael Beverly, of the faid county, provided the faid Abell will pay to the treafurer of the weftern fhore
the fum of eleven pounds two fhillings and four-pence, in fpecie or fpecie certificates.
