great feal, and not herein contained, two dollars; provided neverthelefs, that the
ftate be not charged for any feal directed for the ufe of the public only, or for any
fervice whatever herein mentioned.

C H A P.
LXXVI.

IV. And be it enacted, That all the faid fums fo to be paid according to the
faid table, fhall be taxed and paid as other cofts.

V. And be it enacted, That the money fhall be paid immediately on the fer-
vice done, to the regifter in chancery, or regifter of the land-office, as the cafe
may require, and if not fo paid, that the chancellor be authorifed to enforce the
payment by attachment, and that each of the faid regifters fhall, every three
months, pay the fame to the treafurer of the weftern fhore, and fhall annually lay
before the general affembly a fair account of his receipts, and fhall be allowed a
commiffion of four per centum in full for his trouble and fervice in the execution
of this act; and the faid taxes fhall be colleded and paid for five years after the
end of the prefent feffion of affembly, and no longer.

VI. And be it enacted, That the treafurer of the weftern fhore fhall keep the
money paid to him agreeably to this act apart from all other money, to be ap-
plied towards the payment of the falary aforefaid quarterly; and that if the faid
money fhall not be fufficient for the payment of the faid falary, the deficiency
fhall be made up out of any monies in the treafury arifing, or to arife, from the
fale of vacant lands.

C H A P LXXVII.

And be kept
apart, &c.

An ACT to continue the acts of affembly therein mentioned,

Be it enacted, by the General Affembly of Maryland, That a fupplementary
act to the act, entitled, An act afcertaining the height of fences, to pre-
vent the evils occafioned by the multitude of horfes, and reftraining horfe-
rangers within this province, and to redrefs the great evils accruing to this pro-
vince by the multiplicity of ufelefs horfes, mares and colts, that run in the
woods, paffed November, feventeen hundred and fixty-nine, be and is hereby
continued, and fhall be and remain in full force until the thirtieth day of Octo-
ber, feventeen hundred and ninety-nine, and to the end of the next feffion of
affembly which fhall happen thereafter. That another act of affembly, entitled,
An act for amending and declaring the law in the cafes therein mentioned, paffed
October, feventeen hundred and feventy-eight, be and is hereby continued, and
fhall be and remain in full force until the thirtieth day of October, feventeen.

to the fines to be impofed on jurymen, witneffes and conflables, paffed April,
feventeen hundred and eighty-two, be and is hereby continued, and fhall be and
remain in full force until the thirtieth day of October, feventeen hundred and
ninety-nine, and until the end of the next feffion of affembly which fhall happen
thereafter. That another act of aflembly, entitled, An act to oblige infected
fhips and other veffels, coming into this province, to perform quarantine, paffed
November, feventeen hundred and fixty-fix, be and is hereby continued, and
fhall be and remain in full force until the thirtieth day of October, feventeen
hundred and ninety-nine, and until the end of the next feffion of affembly which
fhall happen thereafter. That another act of affembly, entitled, an act to re-
gulate public ferries, paffed November, feventeen hundred and eighty-one, and a
fupplement to the act, entitled, An act to regulate public ferries, paffed April,
feventeen hundred and eighty-two, and an additional fupplement to the act, enti-
tled, An act to regulate public ferries, paffed November, feventeen hundred and
ninety-one, be and they are hereby continued, and fhall be and remain in full
force until the thirtieth day of October next, and until the end of the next
feffion of affembly which fhall happen thereafter. That another act of affembly,
entitled, An act for regulating the gauging of cafks in the town of Baltimore,
paffed March, feventeen hundred and feventy-four, be and is hereby continued,
and fhall be and remain in full force until the thirtieth day of October, feventeen
hundred and ninety-nine, and to the end of the next feffion of affembly which
