down Monocacy to the mouth of Bennett's creek, thence ftreight acrofs to Pa-
towmack river where it croffes the Catoctin mountain, thence with the faid river
to the beginning, fhall be feparated, conftituted and created, into a parifh, to be
called by the name of Saint-Peter's parifh, and is hereby adjudged, deemed and
taken, to be a feparate and diftinct parifh, the freeholders empowered to elect
veftrymen and churchwardens, and to build and found a church therein, and to
have, hold and enjoy, all privileges and advantages that are held and enjoyed by
any other parifh in this ftate.

XXXI.

A Supplement to an act, entitled, An act to empower the
juftices of Caroline county to levy a fum of money, by an
affeffment of the property of faid county, to erect a gaol at
Denton, in faid county, and for other purpofes therein men-
tioned.

cember 22.

WHEREAS by the act to which this is a fupplement, commiffion-
ers were appointed to contract with workmen, and fuperintend the
building a good and fufficient gaol on the public ground at Denton,
in faid county, and the erecting and making a good and fufficient caufeway on
the eaft fide of Choptank river, nearly oppofite the court-houfe of faid county,
and a ftrong and fubftantial wharf on the weft fide of the faid river, and the
marfh through which the faid road is directed to pafs is private property, and the
powers of the faid commiffioners are not fufficient to enable them to carry the act
into effect, and the faid commiffioners are unwilling to undertake the difcharge of
the duties impofed by faid act; therefore,

Preamble.

II. Be it enacted, by the General Affembly of Maryland, That Jofeph Richard-
fon, Chriftopher Driver, William Robinfon, Henry Downes and Robert Hard-
caftle, be and they are hereby appointed commiffioners in the room and place of
the commiffioners appointed in the act to which this is a fupplement; and the
faid commiffioners fhall have full power and authority to open and lay off a road,
and make a good and fufficient caufeway, through the marfh on the eaft fide of
Choptank river, oppofite, or as nearly oppofite, the court-houfe of faid county
as they may think beft or proper, and erect a wharf at the end of faid caufeway,
if they fhall think it neceffary; and the faid commiffioners, or a majority of
them, are hereby authorifed and empowered to exercife all the other powers grant-
ed, or intended to be granted, by the act to which this is a fupplement, to the
commiffioners therein named.

III. And be it enacted, That fo much of the act to which this is a fup-
plement as refpects the appointment of commiffioners, be and is hereby re-
pealed.

CHAP. XXXIII.

Part of an act
repealed.

A Further fupplement to an act, entitled, An act for the relief of
the fecurities of John Beall, former collector of the taxes for
Prince-George's county.

cember 22.

BE it enacted, by the General Affembly of Maryland, That all the powers
given and granted, by the act to which this is a fupplement, to the then
exiting commiffioners of the tax of Prince-George's county, with refpect

to the adjufting the account between the faid John Beall and his agents, deputies,
collectors or receivers, and the compelling payment of the balances due from
them to the faid John Beall, be granted to the commiffioners of the tax for faid
county for the time being, or who may hereafter be appointed, any thing to the
contrary thereof in any wife notwithftanding.
