CHAPTER 639
(House Bill 482)

AN ACT to add new Section 9(46) to Article 81 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1957 Edition and 1958 Supplement), title
"Revenue and Taxes", sub-title "What Shall Be Taxed and Where",
exempting tobacco stored in the State Tobacco Warehouse from
assessment and from State, county and city taxation, and providing
that taxes on said property which are assessed and unpaid on the
effective date of this Act shall be abated.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That a new Section 9(46) be and it is hereby added to Article 81 of
the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition and 1958 Supple-
ment), title "Revenue and Taxes", sub-title "What Shall Be Taxed and
Where", and to read as follows:

9.

(46) Tobacco stored in the State Tobacco Warehouse.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That any taxes on tobacco
stored in the State Tobacco Warehouse which are assessed and un-
paid on the effective date of this Act are hereby abated.

Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1959.

CHAPTER 640
(House Bill 483)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 49 of
Article 63 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition), title
"Mechanics' Lien", sub-title "Hospitals", relating to the examina-
tion of hospital records by persons against whom a claim for dam-
ages may be asserted.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 49 of Article 63 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1957 Edition), title "Mechanics' Lien", sub-title "Hospitals", be and
it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as
follows:

49. Any person or persons, firm or firms, corporation or corpora-
tions, legally liable or against whom a claim shall be asserted for
compensation for such injuries, shall be permitted to examine the
