Maryland (1957 Edition), title "Natural Resources", sub-title
"Fish and Fisheries. Part 2. Tidal Waters", sub-heading "Black
Bass and Pike", relating to the taking and, possession AND
TRANSPORTATION of black bass and pike taken by hook and
line in tidal waters of the State.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 314 (b), 315 (B), 316 and 317 of Article 66C of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition), title "Natural Re-
sources", sub-title "Fish and Fisheries. Part 2. Tidal Waters", sub-
heading "Black Bass and Pike", be and the same are hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

314.

(b) It shall be unlawful to catch black bass in any manner in the
tidal waters of the State of Maryland except that [during the months
of June, July, August, September, October and November] black
bass may be caught with rod, hook and line using natural or arti-
ficial baits at any time during the year., SUBJECT TO THE CREEL
LIMIT IMPOSED BY SECTION 316 OF THIS ARTICLE. When-
ever any black bass are caught in nets, seines or other devices legally
engaged in other fishing those fishing such nets shall immediately
return such fish to the waters uninjured, except it shall be lawful
for anyone fishing said nets to retain not to exceed one day's legal
creel limit of ten (10) FIVE (5) black bass for his own private
use during said open season. It shall also be unlawful for any
person, firm or corporation to sell or offer to sell, purchase or offer
to purchase at any time or to have in possession any black bass
whether said fish be caught in tidal or non-tidal waters within the
State of Maryland, or the waters of any other state and brought into
this State; provided, however, that anglers catching said fish BY
ROD, HOOK AND LINE [during the months of June, July, August,
September, October, and November,] as hereinbefore provided, shall
be entitled to the possession of said fish so caught AND NOT IN
EXCESS OF THE CREEL LIMIT IMPOSED BY SECTION 316
OF THIS ARTICLE, SHALL BE ENTITLED TO POSSESS AND
TRANSPORT SAID FISH SO CAUGHT; and further provided
that nothing in this section shall be so construed as to prevent
the shipment in interstate commerce of live bass for propagating,
breeding or stocking purposes in accordance with Section 215 of
this article, or to prevent anyone from catching or engaging in the
catching of black bass under the direction of the Board of Natural
Resources for propagation purposes or for restocking any waters
of this State in accordance with Section 218.

315.

(B) BASS—IT SHALL BE UNLAWFUL FOR ANY PERSON
TO DELIVER TO ANY PRIVATE OR COMMON CARRIER FOR
TRANSPORTATION OR FOR ANY PRIVTE OR COMMON
CARRIER TO ACCEPT FOR TRANSPORTATION, OR FOR ANY
PERSON TO TRANSPORT OR CARRY OR CAUSE TO BE
TRANSPORTED OR CARRIED BY ANY MEANS WHATSO-
EVER, ANY BLACK BASS INTO OR FROM THE STATE OF
MARYLAND, EXCEPT AS PROVIDED IN SECTIONS 215 AND
314 (B) OF THIS ARTICLE.
