"Wicomico County", sub-title "Circuit Court", sub-heading "Court
Stenographer"; being also codified as Section 49 (a) of Article 24
of said Code, title "Worcester County", sub-title "Circuit Court",
sub-heading "Court Stenographer", as each of said several sec-
tions was last amended by Chapter 83 of the Acts of 1959, in-
creasing the compensation of the Court Stenographer for the sev-
eral counties of Dorchester, Somerset, Wicomico and Worcester,
and authorizing the employment of an additional Court Stenog-
rapher or Court Stenographers therein.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 136(a) of Article 10 of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Dorchester County", sub-title
"Circuit Court", sub-heading "Court Stenographer"; being also
codified as Section 29 (a) of Article 20 of said Code, title "Somerset
County", sub-title "Circuit Court", sub-heading "Court Stenogra-
pher"; being also codified as Section 20(a) of Article 23 of said
Code, title "Wicomico County", sub-title "Circuit Court", sub-head-
ing "Court Stenographer"; being also codified as Section 49(a) of
Article 24 of said Code, sub-title "Circuit Court", sub-heading "Court
Stenographer", as each of said several sections was last amended by
Chapter 83 of the Acts of 1959, be and it is hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

136. (a) The salary of said stenographer shall be [Five Thou-
sand Dollars ($5,000)] six thousand five hundred dollars ($6,500)
per year, the said salary to be paid as follows: The County Commis-
sioners of Dorchester County, Wicomico County, Somerset County
and Worcester County shall each pay [the sum of Twelve Hundred
and Fifty Dollars thereof] an equal amount of the salary specified,
said payments to be made in quarterly MONTHLY installments dur-
ing the service, on the presentation of the certificate of the clerk of
either county or of either of said judges of said court, to the County
Commissioners certifying to the services of said court stenographer.
And the said County Commissioners of the several counties are here-
by directed and empowered to provide for the payment of their sev-
eral portions of the salary of the said stenographer at once on pre-
sentation of said certificates. The several Boards of County Commis-
sioners JUDGES OF THE RESPECTIVE CIRCUIT COURTS are
authorized to provide for the employment of an additional court ste-
nographer or court stenographers, when in their joint discretion the
volume of work requires, at the same compensation as provided
above.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1959.
