the Sheriff of Allegany County to report monthly to the County
Commissioners of Allegany County, the number of prisoners con-
fined in the Allegany County Jail and providing that the County
Commissioners of Allegany County shall allow the Sheriff a sum
for the board and keep of said prisoners.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 547A be and it is hereby added to the Public Local Laws
of Allegany County (1955 Edition, being Article 1 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Allegany County", sub-title
"Sheriff", to follow immediately after Section 547 thereof and to
read as follows:

547A. It is the duty of the Sheriff of Allegany County at the first
meeting of the County Commissioners in each month to make a writ-
ten report of the number of prisoners confined in the Allegany County
Jail during the preceding month. The report shall set forth the num-
ber of prisoners confined to the jail on each day of said month and
the total number of prisoners confined during said month, and the
County Commissioners shall allow the said Sheriff of Allegany
County, a sum of not less than 75¢ per day for the board and keep
of each said prisoner.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That all laws inconsistent with
the provisions of this Act be and the same are hereby repealed to
the extent of such inconsistency.

Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1959.

CHAPTER 489
(House Bill 674)

AN ACT to add new Section 82A to the Code of Public Local Laws
of Allegany County (1955 Edition, being Article 1 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Allegany County", sub-
title "County Commissioners", to follow immediately after Section
82 thereof, and to be under the new sub-heading "Ambulance
Service", authorizing the County Commissioners of Allegany
County to pay for ambulance service to certain persons certified
as being medically indigent or certified as being eligible for medical
care at public expense.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That a new Section 82A be and it is hereby added to the Code of
