title "Natural Resources", sub-title "Birds, Game and Inland
Water Fish", and to add new Section 132 (n) to the same Article,
to follow immediately after Section 132 (m), making it unlawful
for anyone to hunt, shoot, kill, trap, net, or destroy, or to possess
in any manner within the limits of this State any wild bird or any
part, nest or egg thereof; providing for certain exceptions to the
above provisions; providing penalties for the violation of this
Section; and relating generally to wild birds in this State.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 112 of Article 66C of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1957 Edition), title "Natural Resources", sub-title "Birds, Game
and Inland Water Fish", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:

112. Whenever used in this sub-title, unless a contrary inten-
tion is evident from the context, the word "person" shall include
individuals, copartnerships, associations, and corporations; the sin-
gular shall include the plural, and the masculine, the feminine and
neuter.

The term "game birds" shall include: (a) The anatidae, commonly
known as swan, geese, brant, river and sea ducks; (b) the pygopodes,
commonly known as loons and grebes (the members! of these two
orders being commonly known as wild waterfowl); (c) the rallidae,
commonly known as rails or sora, coots, mudhens, and gallinules;
(d) the limicolae, commonly known as shore birds, plover, surf
birds, snipe, woodcock, sandpipers, tattlers, and curlew; (e) the
gallinae, commonly known as wild turkey, ruffled grouse, pheasants,
doves, partridges and quail; (f) the birds commonly known as reed-
birds and blackbirds.

The term "game animals" shall include: (a) The deer; (b) the
bear; (c) the wild rabbit and hare; (d) the red, gray, black, and
fox squirrel; (e) the raccoon; and (f) the opossum.

The term "game" shall include "game animals" and "game birds",
which are protected by law.

The term "fur-bearing animal" shall include: (a) The mink; (b)
the muskrat; (c) the otter; (d) the beaver.

The term "vermin" shall include all wild animals not classed as
game animals or fur-bearing animals, and all wild birds other than
game birds and protected birds.

The term "unprotected birds" shall include: (a) The [bluejay;
(b) the] English sparrow; [ (c) ] (b) the European starling;
[(d) the king-fisher; (e)] (c) the buzzard; [(f)] (d) the crow
[; (g) all species of hawks and owls].

The term "protected birds" shall include all wild birds not in-
cluded within the terms "game birds" and "unprotected birds".

The term "wild birds" includes all birds other than domestic birds.

The term "wild quadruped" shall mean any quadruped protected
or unprotected by law except those species commonly classed as
domestic animals.

The term "fur dealer" shall mean a person who buys or otherwise
acquires raw and green furs, skins, hides, or pelts of wild quadrupeds
from a trapper, or other person, and sells or otherwise disposes of
raw and green furs, skins, hides or pelts of wild quadrupeds so
bought for resale or transfer or for manufacturing into a finished
product.
