AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 37 (h)
(1) of Article 87 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957
Edition), title "Sheriffs", sub-title "Compensation and Duties",
relating generally to an annual audit of the books of the sheriff
of Charles County.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 37 (h) (1) of Article 87 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1957 Edition), title "Sheriffs", sub-title "Compensation
and Duties", be and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:
37.
(h). (1) The Sheriff of Charles County shall receive an annual
salary of $3,600 and he shall also be allowed $900 per year as an
expense allowance. He may appoint not more than eight full-time
deputies at an annual minimum salary of $3,000, said salary to be
increased at the rate of not more than $200 per year to a maximum
salary of $3,400 per year. In addition to the above deputies, the
Sheriff shall appoint one full-time deputy at a salary of $2,000 per
annum. Any deputy to be qualified for such increase must have at
least two years experience in said Sheriff's office. Any special depu-
ties shall be appointed only with the approval of the County Commis-
sioners and shall receive such compensation as said Commissioners
shall determine. The books of said sheriff shall be audited annually,
copies of which shall be submitted to the County Commissioners for
publication in local newspapers.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1959.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 6(i) of
Article 52 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition), title
"Justices of the Peace", sub-title "Civil Jurisdiction", increasing
the monetary limitation of jurisdiction for the Trial Magistrates
of St. Mary's County.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
