526                              Laws of Maryland                      [Ch. 404

(1957 Edition), title "Time", be and the same is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

3.

Whenever any county, city, town or other political subdivision of
this State shall have adopted daylight saving time, or any other
variation from the standard time specified in this article, such time
shall, notwithstanding the other provisions of this article, be effective
in such county, city, town or other political subdivision during the
period provided for in the ordinance or resolution establishing and
adopting such daylight saving time or other time, and all courts,
public offices, and legal and official proceedings in such county, city,
town or other political subdivision shall conform to and be regulated
thereby. Whenever any public general or public local law or ordinance
shall prescribe and fix any time for the opening and closing of offices,
filing of papers of any kind, or of any other activity, or shall pre-
scribe the opening and/or closing hours of any business or business
activities, such hours shall conform to the time so adopted by any
county, city, town or other political subdivision of this State, within
such county, city, town or other political subdivision, to the same
extent as if such time had been specified in State law or ordinance,
provided, however, that nothing in this section shall apply to the
sale of alcoholic beverages in Anne Arundel [, Carroll] and Wash-
ington counties.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1959.

CHAPTER 404
(Senate Bill 415)

AN ACT to add new Sections 202A to 202F inclusive, to the Code of
Public Local Laws of Washington County (1957 Edition, being
Article 22 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland), title
"Washington County", sub-title "County Commissioners", to fol-
low immediately after Section 202, creating the Economic De-
velopment Commission of Washington County, providing for its
powers and duties, and relating generally to economic development
in Washington County.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Sections 202A to 202F inclusive, be and they are hereby
added to the Code of Public Local Laws of Washington County (1957
Edition, being Article 22 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Mary-
land), title "Washington County", sub-title "County Commissioners",
