(House Bill 612)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 240 of
Article 81 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition), title
"Revenue and Taxes", sub-title "State Tax Commission", relating
to the salary of the supervisor of assessments of Baltimore County.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 240 of Article 81 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1957 Edition), title "Revenue and Taxes", sub-title "State Tax Com-
mission", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, to read as follows:
240. [The executive officer of] Baltimore County shall be author-
ized and directed to levy and pay to the supervisor of assessments
of said county an annual salary [of not less than $9,500.00,] rang-
ing from $9,500.00 to $12,000.00, provided, however, that the portion
of said salary to be paid by the State shall be limited to the amount
as prescribed in the schedules set forth in Section 236 of this Article.
A person holding the position of supervisor of assessments of Balti-
more County shall cover the salary range between the minimum and
maximum figures in five years receiving one-fifth of the differential
at the end of each of the five years, provided, however, that service
prior to June 1, 1959, be taken into consideration for such purpose.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1959.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 78 (a)
and 81 of Article 56 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957
Edition), title "Licenses", subtitle "Private Detectives", to increase
license fees for individuals, firms, associations or corporations and
employees of licensees licensed as private detectives in the State.
