Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 40 (1) of Article 10 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1957 Edition), title "Attorneys At Law and Attorneys In
Fact", sub-title "State's Attorney", be and it is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
40.
(1) Prince George's County.—The State's Attorney of Prince
George's County shall receive an annual salary of $7,000. In Prince
George's County the State's Attorney is authorized and empowered
to appoint a deputy State's Attorney who shall receive an annual
salary of [$4,000] $4,600 and an assistant State's Attorney who
shall receive an annual salary of [$3,000] $3,600, and two assistant
State's Attorneys, each of whom shall receive the annual salary of
[$1,800] $2,400.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1959.

CHAPTER 357
(House Bill 502)
AN ACT to repeal Section 37 (b) of Article 87 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1957 Edition), title "Sheriffs", sub-title "Com-
pensation and Duties", and to enact new Section 37 (b) in lieu
thereof, to stand in the place and stead of the section so repealed
relating generally to the compensation, duties and conduct of the
Sheriff of Anne Arundel County.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 37 (b) of Article 87 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1957 Edition), title "Sheriffs", sub-title "Compensation and
Duties", be and it is hereby reepaled REPEALED, and that new
Section 37 (b) be and it is hereb HEREBY added to said Article, to
stand in the place and stead of the section so repealed, and to read
as follows:
37.
(b). The Sheriff of Anne Arundel County shall receive an annual
salary to be fixed by the County Commissioners of Anne Arundel
County, but in no event to be less than $7,500.00. In addition to his
salary, the Sheriff shall receive such sums for the necessary expenses
of his office, including clerical assistance, as shall be authorized by
the County Commissioners of said County.
