Cecil County. [In Harford County, the State's Attorney, with the
approval of the judge for the Circuit Court of Harford County, may
appoint an assistant State's Attorney who shall serve at the pleasure
of the State's Attorney at an annual compensation of $2,000, and who
shall have all the legal powers to represent the State before grand
juries and in the trial of criminal proceedings as does the State's
Attorney.] The State's Attorney of Talbot County shall receive in
addition to his salary, $1,800 for secretarial expenses.

40.

(h)(1) The State's Attorney of Harford County shall receive an
annual salary of $6,000. In addition to such salary, the county com-
missioners of Harford County shall pay all reasonable expenses for
the conduct of the office of State's Attorney. The State's Attorney,
with the approval of the judge for the circuit court of Harford
County, may appoint an assistant State's Attorney, who shall serve
at the pleasure of the State's Attorney at an annual compensation
of $3,000, and who shall have all the same legal powers to represent
the State before grand juries and in the trial of criminal proceedings
as does the State's Attorney.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That the increase in salary
herein provided for is not intended to increase the salary of the
present incumbent but rather is intended to apply to the salary of
the State's Attorney of Harford County elected to that position at
the expiration of the present term of office.

Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1959.

(House Bill 347)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 219 and
220 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Cecil County (1953
Edition being Article 8 of the Public Local Laws of Maryland),
title "Cecil County", sub-title "Marriage", relating to the solicita-
tion of persons for marriage in Cecil County and relating generally
to marriage in Cecil County.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland.,
That Sections 219 and 220 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Cecil
County (1953 Edition, being Article 8 of the Public Local Laws
of Maryland) title "Cecil County", subtitle "Marriage", be and they
