or separate certificates.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1959.

CHAPTER 320
(House Bill 246)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 37 (p)
of Article 87 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition),
title "Sheriffs", sub-title "Compensation and Duties", relating to
the expense allowance of the Sheriff of Prince George's County
and to the compensation of his employees.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 37 (p) of Article 87 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1957 Edition), title "Sheriffs", sub-title "Compensation and
Duties", be and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:

37.

(p) The Sheriff of Prince George's County shall receive an annual
salary of $5,000 and [$2,500] $3,000 per year for operation and
maintenance of his automobile during his term as Sheriff, for the
use and work of his office within said county, without any additional
cost to the county. He may appoint such deputies and assistants as
he may deem necessary and a stenographer and at such compen-
sation as he shall fix but the compensation of all such deputies and
assistants and a stenographer shall not exceed [$25,300] $31,400.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1959.
