County, the commission shall notify the county in advance of the
day, time, and extent to which it proposes to cut into any street,
road, alley, sidewalk or other public property within said county,
except when such cut shall be of emergent necessity then such notice
shall be given to the county as soon thereafter as practicable, and the
county is hereby authorized at its discretion to make all necessary
final repairs to restore property to a condition satisfactory to the
county and charge all cost incident thereto to the commission.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
on June 1, 1959.

CHAPTER 287
(Senate Bill 325)

AN ACT to add new Section 43(g) to Article 33 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1957 Edition), title "Elections", sub-title
"Cancellation of Registration'', to follow immediately after Section
43(f) thereof, relating to the procedure for cancellation for cer-
tain causes of registration of voters, and relating generally to
elections in the State.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 43(g) be and it is hereby added to Article 33 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition), title "Elections", sub-
title "Cancellation of Registration", to follow immediately after
Section 43 (f) thereof, and to read as follows:

43.

(g) Whenever the death, conviction of infamous crime, name
changed by marriage, name changed by decree, of any registered
voter is reported as above provided, the Board of Supervisors of
Elections shall cause to be mailed to the address of such voter, as it
appears on the registration books or records, a notification that such
death, or conviction of infamous crime, or name changed by mar-
riage, or name changed by decree, has been reported to the board,
and requiring the voter to show cause within two weeks after the
mailing of such notification why his registration should not be can-
celled. Whenever the Supervisors have actual knowledge of the death
of any registered voter and file in their office a sworn statement to
that effect, it shall not be necessary so to mail such notice to the
address of the voter; and his registration may be forthwith cancelled
as hereinafter provided, by erasing his name from the registry, or
in counties having a system of permanent registration and in Balti-
more City, by removing the registration cards or forms of the voter
from the original and duplicate files and placing the same in a trans-
fer file.
