deem necessary and at such compensation as he may fix, subject to
approval of the County Commissioners of the county, but the com-
pensation of all such deputies shall not exceed, in the aggregate,
[seven thousand five hundred dollars ($7,500.00)] ten thousand dol-
lars ($10,000.00)
per annum. Provided further that in Talbot County
there shall always be night personnel attached to the Sheriff's office
and the office shall be operated on a 24 hour daily basis.

Sec 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1959.

CHAPTER 252
(House Bill 369)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 27 (b)
of Article 101 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edi-
tion), title "Workmen's Compensation", sub-title "Application
of Article; Extra Hazardous Employments", increasing the com-
pensation paid to members of the medical board under the Work-
men's Compensation laws.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 27 (b) of Article 101 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1957 Edition), title "Workmen's Compensation", sub-title
"Application of Article; Extra Hazardous Employments", be and
the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to
read as follows:

27.

(b) Compensation of members.—The members of the medical
board shall devote as much of their time as may be required to per-
form the duties and carry out the functions of the board as set
forth in this article. The chairman of the medical board shall re-
ceive an annual salary of [two thousand five hundred dollars
($2,500.00)] four thousand five hundred dollars ($4,500.00) and the
two associate members of the board shall receive an annual salary
of [two thousand dollars ($2,000.00)] four thousand dollars
($4,000.00)
each, and each member of the board shall be entitled
to the reasonable and necessary traveling and other expenses in-
curred while actually engaged in the performance of their duties.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1959.

Approved March 24, 1959.
