CHAPTER 221
(Senate Bill 373)

AN ACT to add a new Section 270B to the Code of Public Local Laws
of Anne Arundel County (1947 Edition, being Article 2 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Anne Arundel
County", sub-title "County Commissioners", to follow immediately
after Section 270A thereof, as enacted by Chapter 364 of the Acts
of 1957 and to be under the new sub-heading "Pensions", confer-
ring additional powers upon the County Commissioners of Anne
Arundel County with respect to pensions for the widows of certain
retired county employees.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That a new Section 270B be and it is hereby added to the Code of
Public Local Laws of Anne Arundel County (1957 Edition, being
Article 2 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Anne
Arundel County", sub-title "County Commissioners", to follow imme-
diately after Section 270A thereof, as enacted by Chapter 364 of the
Acts of 1957 and to be under the new sub-heading "Pensions", and
to read as follows:

Pensions

270B. The County Commissioners of Anne Arundel County are
authorized and empowered in their discretion to pay to the widow
of any retired county employee who had been employed by the county
for a period of thirty years or more, who is receiving retirement
benefits under the provisions of any state or federal law and aggre-
gating less than $125.00 per month, an additional sum not exceed-
ing the difference between the aggregate benefits referred to and
$125.00 per month. The widow of any such retired employee shall
make application for such payments to the County Commissioners,
and they shall annually levy such amounts as may be needed to make
the payments so provided for. Such payments shall not be made to
any particular person for a longer period than ten years, and upon
the remarriage of any such widow the payments shall be entirely
discontinued.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1959.

AN ACT to repeal Chapter 660 of the Acts of the General Assembly
of 1955; and to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 2-S
