156                              Laws of Maryland                       [Ch. 136

Section 1. Be it enacted, by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 248 of Article 81 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1957 Edition), title "Revenue and Taxes", sub-title "Appeal Tax
Courts", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, to read as follows:

248. Power to create; composition; terms; compensation; re-
moval; vacancies.

The County Commissioners of each county are hereby authorized
and empowered (but are not required) to create, by resolution, an
appeal tax court consisting of three members to be appointed by the
County Commissioners for terms of three years, so arranged that
the term of office of one of said members shall expire [retire] on
June 1st in each year. One of said members shall be designated by
the County Commissioners as chairman, and each of said members
shall receive compensation as may be provided by the County Com-
missioners. The members of an appeal tax court shall be removable
by the County Commissioners only for incompetence or other cause,
and after a hearing before the County Commissioners. All vacancies
shall be filled by appointment of the County Commissioners.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1959.

(House Bill 127)

AN ACT to repeal Section 51 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Allegany County (1955 Edition, being Article 1 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Allegany County", sub-
title "Circuit Court", sub-heading "Office Hours"; to repeal and
re-enact, with amendments, Section 8 of Article 17 of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition), title "Clerks of Courts",
sub-title "General Duties of Clerks"; to add a new Section 5A to
Article 25 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition), title
"County Commissioners", sub-title "General Provisions", to follow
immediately after Section 5 thereof; and to repeal and re-enact,
with amendments, Section 293 of Article 93 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1957 Edition), title "Testamentary Law",
sub-title "Register of Wills", relating generally to the transac-
tion of business in certain public offices of Allegany County on
Saturdays, these being the offices of the Clerk to the County Com-
missioners AND ANY OTHER OFFICES UNDER THE CON-
TROL OF THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS, the Clerk of the
Circuit Court and the Register of Wills, and removing an obsolete
