SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That Section 9 of Article 32A
of said Code, title "Department of Law", sub title "In General", and
Sections 155, 160, 167 and 170 of Article 41 of said Code, title
"Governor—Executive and Administrative Departments", sub title
State Librarian", and Section 2 of Article 70 of said Code, title
"Official Oaths", be and they are hereby repealed and re enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:
SEC. 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, THAT SECTION
9 OF ARTICLE 32A OF SAID CODE, TITLE "DEPARTMENT OF
LAW", SUB-TITLE "IN GENERAL", BE AND IT IS HEREBY
REPEALED AND RE-ENACTED, WITH AMENDMENTS, TO
READ AS FOLLOWS:

The State [Librarian] Library is authorized and directed to furn-
ish the Department of Law, upon the request of the Attorney Gen-
eral, one or more sets of the Maryland Reports, and copies of the
additional reports as issued, one or more sets of the acts of the Gen-
eral Assembly of Maryland, and copies of the additional acts as
issued, and sets of the several codes containing the public general
and local laws of Maryland, and supplements thereto as issued, and
also from time to time such other law books, or sets thereof, now or
hereafter in the State Library, as the Attorney General may desire
for his Department, and as, in the judgment of the State [Librar-
ian! Library, are available for that purpose; the title to all of
said books to remain in the State of Maryland.
SEC. 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, THAT SECTIONS
155, 160, 164, 167, AND 170 OF ARTICLE 41 OF SAID CODE,
TITLE "GOVERNOR—EXECUTIVE AND ADMINISTRATIVE
DEPARTMENTS", SUB-TITLE "STATE LIBRARIAN", BE AND
THEY ARE HEREBY REPEALED AND RE-ENACTED, WITH
AMENDMENTS, TO READ AS FOLLOWS:

The State [Librarian] Library shall be assigned to the Executive
Department. The [State Librarian] Director shall have and exercise
the rights, powers, duties, obligations and functions now or here-
after conferred by law; and, in addition, shall report in writing
[annually to the Governor, on or before the first day of January,]
to the Library Committee as often as may be required by the Com-
mittee, upon the work and operations of said office [during the pre-
ceding year]. The library committee of the Court of Appeals shall
continue as now provided for by Sections 166 to 170, inclusive of
this Article.

The [Librarian] Director of the Library shall not allow any
book, map or document to be taken out of said Library except by the
executive, members of the General Assembly and judges of the
Court of Appeals.

The [Librarian] State Library shall deliver to each public circu-
lating library or library association which may make application
