CHAPTER 806

(Senate Bill 149)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 5A of
Article 7 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930
Edition), as amended by Chapter 222 of the Acts of 1955, title
"Carroll County", sub-title "Almshouse", authorizing the County
Commissioners of Carroll County to convey certain property to
the Carroll County General Hospital, Incorporated, for medical
and hospital purposes; AND RELATING TO THE PROCE-
DURE FOR THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS TO LEASE,
DEDICATE OR CONVEY CERTAIN PROPERTY.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 5A of Article 7 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition), as amended by Chapter 222 of the Acts
of 1955, title "Carroll County", sub-title "Almshouse", be and it is
hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

5A. The County Commissioners of Carroll County are hereby
authorized and empowered to sell, at public or private sale, at the
best price obtainable, such part or parts of the County Almshouse
property or farm as, in their discretion, they shall determine to be
to the interest and advantage of the County to sell. The said Com-
missioners are authorized to give a good and sufficient deed for the
property or properties so sold to the purchaser or purchasers thereof.
The proceeds from sale of said property or properties shall be paid
over to the County Treasurer of Carroll County as a part of the
general funds of the County. PRIOR TO ANY SUCH TRANSAC-
TION THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS SHALL GIVE PUBLIC
NOTICE OF THEIR INTENT IN A NOTICE PUBLISHED NOT
LESS THAN THREE WEEKS IN ADVANCE THEREOF IN A
NEWSPAPER PUBLISHED AND OF GENERAL CIRCULATION
IN CARROLL COUNTY.

[The County Commissioners of Carroll County are hereby author-
ized and empowered to lease, dedicate or convey any part of the
County Almshouse property or farm, commonly known as the
"County Home Farm" with or without consideration to the Board
of Education of Carroll County for school purposes only; said prop-
erty to revert to the grantor, the County Commissioners, upon the
cessation of the use of said property for school purposes].

The County Commissioners of Carroll County are hereby author-
ized and empowered to lease, dedicate or convey, with or without
consideration, any part of the County Almshouse property or farm,
commonly known as the "County Home Farm", not to exceed 15
acres, and including that 7.54 acres known as the Carroll County
War Memorial Medical Center, to the Carroll County General Hos-
pital, Incorporated, its successors and assigns, for hospital and medi-
cal purposes only, said property to revert to the grantor, the County
Commissioners, upon the cessation of the use of said property for
hospital and medical purposes.
