"ELECTIONS", SUB-TITLE "NOMINATION BY PETITION", BE
AND IT IS HEREBY REPEALED AND RE-ENACTED, WITH
AMENDMENTS, TO READ AS FOLLOWS:
68. WITHIN THIRTY DAYS AFTER THE FILING OF ANY
NOMINATING PETITION, THE SECRETARY OF STATE, IN
CASES OF SUCH PETITIONS FILED WITH HIM, SHALL
CAUSE TO BE PUBLISHED AT LEAST ONCE IN A DAILY
NEWSPAPER OF GENERAL CIRCULATION THROUGHOUT
THE STATE, THE NAMES OF ALL SIGNERS OF ANY SUCH
PETITION, TOGETHER WITH AN EXPLANATION OF THE
NATURE OF ANY SUCH PETITION TO WHICH SAID PER-
SONS' NAMES ARE AFFIXED. WHERE SUCH PETITIONS
ARE FILED WITH THE BOARDS OF SUPERVISORS OF ELEC-
TIONS, SAID BOARD WITHIN THIRTY DAYS AFTER THE
FILING OF SUCH PETITION SHALL CAUSE TO BE PUB-
LISHED AT LEAST ONCE IN A NEWSPAPER OF GENERAL
CIRCULATION THROUGHOUT THE COUNTY, OR THE CITY
OF BALTIMORE, AS THE CASE MAY BE, THE NAMES OF ALL
THE SIGNERS OF ANY SUCH PETITION, TOGETHER WITH
AN EXPLANATION OF THE NATURE OF THE PETITION TO
WHICH SUCH PERSONS' NAMES ARE AFFIXED. THE COST
OF SUCH PUBLICATION SHALL BE PAID BY THE NOMINEE
WHOSE NAME IS THEREBY ENTERED ON THE BALLOT;
AND IF THE COST IS NOT PAID, THE NAME OF THE NOMI-
NEE SHALL NOT BE PRINTED ON THE BALLOT; PROVIDED,
HOWEVER, THAT THE PROVISIONS OF THIS SECTION
SHALL NOT APPLY TO NOMINATING PETITIONS FOR ELEC-
TION TO MEMBERSHIP ON THE COUNTY BOARD OF EDU-
CATION FOR MONTGOMERY COUNTY.
SEC. 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, THAT THIS ACT
SHALL TAKE EFFECT JUNE 1, 1959.

AN ACT to add new Section 15A to Article 41 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1957 Edition), title "Governor—Executive and
Administrative Departments", sub-title "The Executive Depart-
ment", sub-heading "Head of Department", to follow immediately
after Section 15 thereof, providing for succession to the office of
Governor of this State in the event of certain contingencies, and
relating generally thereto.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new section 15A be and it is hereby added to Article 41 of the
