corporated town therein. For any such work performed for the
County Commissioners of Wicomico County, the County Commis-
sioners are authorized and empowered to pay to the person perform-
ing the work compensation in an amount not to exceed $1.00 per day.
256. If any officer or other person having such prisoner in charge
for the performance of such work or labor, connive at or by his wilful
neglect, permit the escape of any such prisoner, he shall be guilty
of a misdemeanor, and upon indictment and conviction of such offense
in the Circuit Court[s] for [Somerset, Talbot, Wicomico and Wor-
cester counties] Wicomico County, be fined not less than twenty
dollars or more than fifty dollars, or be confined in the county jail.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1959.

(Senate Bill 93)
AN ACT to repeal Section 389 of Article 15 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Kent County",
sub-title "Turner's River", and to repeal said sub-title; eliminat-
ing from the Local Laws of Kent County an obsolete statute con-
cerning the name of the stream known variously as Turner's
Creek or Turner's River.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland.
That Section 389 of Article 15 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Kent County", sub-title "Turner's
River", be and it is hereby repealed.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1959.
