382-I. The salaries to be paid to the members of the Law Depart-
ment shall be as follows:
(a) County Solicitor........................................$10,000.00 per annum
(b) Deputy County Solicitor ........................ $7,000.00 per annum
(c) Assistant County Solicitor...................... $5,000.00 per annum
Salaries of any additional Assistant County Solicitors shall be as set
by the County Commissioners. Whenever it shall be deemed advisable
by the County Commissioners they may increase any of the salaries
of members of the Law Department.
382J. (a) Neither the County Solicitor, his Deputy, nor any Assist-
ant in the Law Department may at any time practice as an attorney
before any County Department, Board, Commission, Agency or Officer
other than as representing the County's interests before such De-
partment, Board, Commission, Agency or Officer.
(b) The County Commissioners are authorized and empowered to
appropriate such sum as may be necessary for the annual expenses
of the Law Department which shall include salaries of stenographers,
equipment and supplies purchase, maintenance and repair, legal publi-
cations and such other items as may be deemed necessary from time
to time.
(c) Nothing in this sub-title shall be construed to prevent the
County Commissioners from engaging the services for a temporary
period of any attorney or attorneys for legal work of an extra, spe-
cialized or unusual nature, when in the judgment of the Commis-
sioners said work is of such character or magnitude as to require
legal services in addition to those rendered by the County Law
Department.
Sec. 2. Be it further enacted, That all laws or parts of laws,
public general or public local, inconsistent with the provisions of
this Act are hereby repealed to the extent of any such inconsistency.
Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1959. JANUARY 1, 1960.
