CHAPTER 727
(House Bill 893)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 313 of
Article 66½ of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition),
title "Motor Vehicles", sub-title "Operation of Vehicles Upon High-
ways", relating to the permissible height of motor vehicles carrying
plate and other flat glass in this State.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 313 of Article 66½ of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1957 Edition), title "Motor Vehicles", sub-title "Operation of Ve-
hicles Upon Highways", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:

313. No vehicle including any load thereon shall exceed a height
of 12 feet 6 inches except that motor transport carriers of automobiles
including any load thereon and motor vehicles carrying plate and
other flat glass
may be 13 feet 6 inches in height. Provided, however,
that nothing in this section shall be construed to prevent the operation
upon any street, road or highway in this State of a motor vehicle
loaded with hay or straw in bound bales and having an over-all height
when loaded not in excess of 13 feet 6 inches.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1959.

(f). In Dorchester County, bona fide hotels having [100] 70 or
more rooms and located on property now owned by the City of Cam-
bridge, upon payment to the commissioners of Cambridge of an
annual license fee of one thousand dollars ($1,000.00), may obtain
a license from the County Commissioners of Dorchester County and
by such license shall be entitled to sell beer, wines and liquors for
on the premises consumption between the hours of 7:00 o'clock A. M.
and 1:00 o'clock A. M. on the day following, except on Sunday when
no sales shall be allowed. Provided, however, that the provisions of

this subsection shall be null and void and of no further effect what-

ever if no license has been issued under the provisions of this sub-
section on or before June 1 [1957] 1961. PROVIDED, HOWEVER,
THAT ALL SAID HOTELS SHALL PURCHASE ALL WINES
AND LIQUORS SOLD BY THEM FROM THE DORCHESTER
COUNTY LIQUOR CONTROL BOARD DISPENSARIES.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1959.
