Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 22-4A be and it is hereby added to the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland, title ''Montgomery County", sub-
title "Chapter 22. Public Welfare", to follow immediately after
Section 22-4 thereof, and to read as follows:

22-4. The County Council may make reasonable payments to foster
homes, in addition to any payments the foster homes receive from
any other source, to secure adequate provision for the care of children
in foster homes.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1959.

Approved April 28, 1959.

CHAPTER 683
(House Bill 696)

AN ACT to add a new sub-section to Section 19 of Article 2B of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition), title "Alcoholic Bev-
erages", sub-title "Beer, Wine and Liquor License", said new sub-
section to be known as sub-section (o), and to follow immediately
after sub-section (n) thereof, relating to the issuance of licenses
to hotels which fulfill certain minimum conditions.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That a new sub-section be and it is hereby added to Section 19 of
Article 2B of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition), title
"Alcoholic Beverages", sub-title "Beer, Wine and Liquor License",
said new sub-section to be known as sub-section (o), to follow imme-
diately after Sub-section (n) thereof, and to read as follows:

19.

(o)  Notwithstanding any other provisions in this Article, EX-
CEPT IN THE CASE OF A CONTRARY PROVISION IN ANY
OTHER SECTION OR SUB-SECTION OF THIS SUB-TITLE,
such a license shall be issued by the Clerk upon the advice and
approval of the Board of License Commissioners in any county,
EXCEPT MONTGOMERY COUNTY, in which a license may be
issued for the sale of beer, wine and liquor, to the owner of any hotel
which meets the following minimum provisions:

(1)  the hotel building shall be originally constructed for hotel
purposes; be at least three stories in height; and contain at least
one passenger elevator.

(2)  the hotel shall contain no less than 100 rooms for the accom-
modation of the public.
