jury foreman as often as the necessity for such appointment shall
occur. If for any reason any person or persons drawn as a grand
juror or grand jurors shall fail to attend and be present at the con-
clusion of the drawing or be disqualified or excused for cause the
court shall forthwith proceed to fill such vacancies from the afore-
said remaining number of twenty-five names of those who are present
in the order in which the names were drawn from the box and may
thereupon in its discretion fill such vacancy or vacancies thus made
in the petit jury by drawing the necessary number of additional
names therefor in manner provided by Section 10 of this Article.
In Charles County the "pellet system'' set out in Section 10 (f) shall
be used in the selection of the grand and petit juries.
This section
is modified as to Allegany County, Prince George's County and
Talbot County. This section shall not apply to Baltimore County,
as to which special provision is made by the local law therefor.

25. (a) Jurors in Washington County shall receive six dollars per
day; in Dorchester, Kent, Queen Anne's and Caroline counties, seven
dollars and fifty cents per day; in Somerset and Worcester counties,
seven dollars and fifty cents per day; in Anne Arundel County, ten
dollars per day, and no extra allowance shall be given either for
mileage or overtime in Anne Arundel County; and in all other
counties, except Allegany, Baltimore, Frederick, Harford Charles,
St. Mary's and Wicomico counties, five dollars per day for each and
every day they shall attend the several courts of this State as jurors
and fifteen cents for each mile over five miles for going to and re-
turning from the court, once in each term, to be paid by the counties,
respectively, in which courts are held. Jurors in Baltimore City shall
receive such compensation as shall be provided in the ordinance of
estimates of said city each year. In Baltimore County, jurors shall
receive per diem compensation in such amounts as shall be set, from
time to time, by the judges of the Circuit Court of Baltimore County.
Jurors in Frederick County shall receive at least eight dollars per
day for each and every day they shall attend the Circuit Court of
Frederick County as jurors and a reasonable amount, in the dis-
cretion of the County Commissioners, for each mile going to and
returning from the court.

(h) In Charles County, jurors shall receive eight dollars per day
for each and every day they shall attend a Court of this State as
jurors and shall receive no extra allowances for either mileage or
overtime.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1959.
