cations are: (1) The fee to accompany the application for renewal
(for issuance of a renewal license) shall be two dollars ($2. 00); (2)
The application for renewal need not be under affidavit,

BUT WILFULLY GIVING A FALSE OR MATERIALLY
MISLEADING STATEMENT ON THE APPLICATION SHALL
BE DEEMED A MISDEMEANOR, AND UPON CONVICTION
THEREOF, SHALL BE PUNISHABLE BY A FINE NOT EX-
CEEDING FIVE HUNDRED ($500. 00) DOLLARS OR IMPRIS-
ONMENT NOT EXCEEDING SIX (6) MONTHS, OR BY BOTH
SUCH FINE AND IMPRISONMENT.

(e) References in this section to the expiration of a license on the
holder's birthday, and to the renewal of the license, shall always be
construed so that a license shall not expire until the last day of the
calendar month in which the birthday occurs, and so that it may be

renewed at any time during that month, with the renewal to be effec-
tive as of the birthday.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1960.

CHAPTER 23

(Senate Bill 79)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 27 of
Article 78B of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition),
title "Racing Commission", sub-title "Steeplechase Racing", cor-
recting an error in the law providing for steeplechase racing held
by the Cecil County Breeders' Fair, Inc.

WHEREAS, In Section 27 of Article 78B of the Code, which was
enacted by Chapter 781 of the Acts of 1953 and which concerns
steeplechase racing by the Cecil County Breeders' Fair, Inc., there is
an error in what was meant to be a reference to the Maryland State
Fair Board, and

WHEREAS, This error should be corrected in order that the law
may be accurate; now, therefore,

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 27 of Article 78B of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1957 Edition), title "Racing Commission", sub-title "Steeplechase
Racing", be and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:
