at the rate of 20% each year for a period of five years are hereby
established and shall apply to the supervisors of assessments of the
several counties and the director of the department of assessments
of Baltimore City:

Class A ........................................................ $10, 500 to $12, 500

Class B ........................................................ 8, 000 to 9, 500

Class C ........................................................ 6, 000 to 7, 500

Class D ........................................................ 5, 500 to 7, 000

Class E ........................................................ 5, 000 to 6, 000]

The following classifications and their respective numbered pay
scales of the Maryland State Employees Standard Salary Scales for
State Employees are hereby established and shall apply to the Super-
visors of Assessments of the several counties and the Director of the
Department of Assessments of Baltimore City. The several classes of
counties are as specified in sub-section (a) of this section, and the
numbered pay scales are as established from time to time:

236 (f) Baltimore City. —The supervisor of assessments of Balti-
more City shall have an annual salary classification [of $5, 000. to
$6, 000., subject to the other provisions of this section. ] in accordance
with the Maryland State Employees Standard Salary Scale $16, as it
may be established from time to time.

237(b) [Exception as to Class D and Class E counties. —The posi-
tions of senior assessor and of assistant supervisor of assessments
shall not be set up in Class D and Class E counties (following the
classification itemized in Sec. 236 above). ] Exception as to Class F,
Class G and Class H counties. The position of senior assessor shall
not be set up in Class G and H counties, and the position of Assistant
Supervisor shall not be set up in Class F, G and H counties (following
the classification of counties in Section 236 of this Article).

237(d) Salary ranges. —Salary ranges for the several positions
described above in this section shall be as follows:

[Assessor's aides............................................ $3, 500 to $4, 000

Assessors.......................................................... 4, 000 to 5, 000

Senior assessors.............................................. 5, 000 to 6, 000

Assistant supervisors.................................... 6, 000 to 7, 000

Assistant supervisor

(Class A jurisdiction)................................ 7, 000 to 8, 000
