AN ACT to repeal Sections 109 through 137, inclusive, of Article 5
of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title
"Calvert County", sub-title "Dogs and Foxes", and to enact in lieu
thereof new Section 109 to stand in the place and stead of said
Section 109 of Article 5 of said Code; and to be under the new
sub-title "Dogs", and to add new Section 207 A to Article 56 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition), title "Licenses",
sub-title "Dog Licenses in the Counties" authorizing the County
Commissioners of Calvert County to pass rules and regulations for
the licensing and regulation of dogs in said County; and providing
certain restrictions for the adoption of said rules and regulations.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 109 through 137, inclusive, of Article 5 of the Code
of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), be and they are
hereby repealed, and that new Section 109 be and is hereby enacted
to stand in the place and stead of said Section 109 of Article 5 of
said Code; and that new Section 207A be and is hereby added to
Article 56 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition); all to
read as follows:
109. The Board of County Commissioners of Calvert County are
hereby authorized and empowered to adopt rules and regulations pro-
viding for the licensing and regulation of dogs in Calvert County.
Immediately prior to the adoption of said rules and regulations, the
County Commissioners shall cause said rules and regulations to be
published once each week for three (3) consecutive weeks in each of
the newspapers in Calvert County.
The rules and regulations shall set forth the license fees for dogs
in Calvert County.
The County Commissioners are hereby authorized to contract with
any firm, person, individual or other county OR COUNTIES in regard
to the CONSTRUCTION AND operation of a dog pound OR ANIMAL
SHELTER.
The expenses of administering the rules and regulations herewith
authorized by the County Commissioners shall not exceed $1,500.00
$2,500.00 in any one year.
207A. Nothing in this sub-title shall apply to Calvert County.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1957.
SEC. 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, THAT THIS ACT
IS HEREBY DECLARED TO BE AN EMERGENCY MEASURE
AND NECESSARY FOR THE IMMEDIATE PRESERVATION
