ment or promotion in the Police Force except for position as Inspec-
tors of Police, Police Surgeons, the Secretary of the Police Com-
missioner [and] , his Assistants, and the Secretary to the Chief
Inspector.
The examinations shall be public and of such character
as to test fairly the relative capacity and fitness of the candidates to
discharge the duties of the positions for which they are seeking to
qualify. The Examining Authority shall prepare graded lists of
qualified candidates determined from the written examinations and
the service records and ratings of the Chief Personnel Officer for
those candidates who have achieved at least the minimum passing
grade on the written examination,
and the mark to be given each
such qualified candidate shall be determined by giving equal weight
to [the] such result of the written examination and to the service
record or rating. If any candidate does not achieve the minimum
passing grade on the written examination fixed by the Examining
Authority, his name shall not appear on the graded list for such
appointment or promotion.
Any list supplied to the Police Commis-
sioner shall remain in force for one year thereafter unless sooner
exhausted by appointments or promotions. Persons whose names
remain on the list after its expiration shall be eligible for a subse-
quent list upon re-examination. The graded lists shall at all times be
open to the inspection of the public, and the examination papers and
service records or ratings shall be open to inspection of the respective
members of the Department or applicants for appointment.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1957.

CHAPTER 551
(House Bill 254)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sub-section (c)
and (d) of Section 215 of Article 66C of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1951 Edition), title "Natural Resources", sub-title
"Birds, Game and Inland Water Fish", sub-heading "Regulations
for Taking of Game and Fresh Water Game Fish in Non-Tidal
Waters", increasing the license fee for angler's licenses, and cor-
recting mistakes therein.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sub-sections (c) and (d) of Section 215 of Article 66C of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition), title "Natural Re-
sources", sub-title "Birds, Game and Inland Water Fish", sub-heading
"Regulations for Taking of Game and Fresh Water Game Fish in
Non-Tidal Waters", be and they are hereby repealed and re-enacted
with amendments to read as follows:
