CHAPTER 543
(House Bill 219)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments Section 65 of
Article 89B of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition),
title "State Roads", sub-title "Duties and Powers", providing that
the State Roads Commission and the County Commissioners of the
several Counties are authorized by mutual agreement to change
the status of roads within all of the counties from a County Road
to a State Road, or from a State Road to a County Road.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 65 of Article 89B of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1951 Edition), title "State Roads", sub-title "Duties and Powers"
be and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, to read as follows:
65. For the purpose of reducing the cost of road maintenance, the
State Roads Commission and the County Commissioners of the
several Counties are hereby authorized to provide, by mutual agree-
ment, at any time to change the status of any road within the said
County from a County Road to a State Road or from a State Road
to a County Road. [: provided, however, that the provisions of this
section shall not apply to Caroline, Somerset, Cecil, Queen Anne's,
Talbot, and Worcester Counties.]
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1957.

CHAPTER 544
(House Bill 226)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections 22 (a)
and (b) of Article 1A of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1956
Supplement), title "Aeronautics", sub-title "General Provisions",
changing the annual date for payment of the aircraft registration
fee in this State and relating to the aircraft subject to such regis-
tration and fees.
