CHAPTER 533
(House Bill 161)
AN ACT to add new Section 57 to Article 19 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "St. Mary's County",
sub-title "County Commissioners", said section having been re-
pealed by Chapter 385 of the Laws of Maryland 1945, said new Sec-
tion to follow immediately after Section 56, providing for an annual
appropriation by the County Commissioners to a committee set up
by them for the purpose of promoting tourist activity and indus-
trial development in St. Mary's County.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That a new Section 57 be and it is hereby added to Article 19 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "St.
Mary's County", sub-title "County Commissioners", said section hav-
ing been repealed by Chapter 385 of the Laws of Maryland 1945,
said new section to follow immediately after Section 56, and to read
as follows:
57. The County Commissioners of St. Mary's County are empowered
to appropriate annually not more than Five Thousand Dollars
($5,000) to a committee which has been appointed by the County
Commissioners for the purpose of tourist promotional activities and
promoting industrial development in St. Mary's County. The said
committee shall make a quarterly accounting of all bills and expendi-
tures to the County Commissioners.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1957.

AN ACT to add new Section 404A to Article 27 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1951 Edition), title "Crimes and Punishments",
to follow immediately after Section 404 thereof and to be under
the new sub-title "Knives—Switchblade", prohibiting the sale in
this State of knives commonly known as "switchblade" knives.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That a new Section 404A, be and it is hereby added to Article 27 of
the Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition), title "Crimes and
Punishments", said new section to follow immediately after Section
404 thereof and to be under the new sub-title "Knives—Switchblade",
and to read as follows:
