AND THE NORTHMOST TIP OF BRUFF'S ISLAND. ANY PER-
SON VIOLATING ANY PROVISION OF THIS SUBSECTION
SHALL UPON CONVICTION BE FINED $500,00 AND COSTS.
ANY PERSON VIOLATING ANY PROVISION OF THIS SUB-
SECTION SHALL UPON CONVICTION BE FINED $500.00 AND
COSTS.
SEC. 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, THAT THIS ACT
IS HEREBY DECLARED TO BE AN EMERGENCY MEASURE
AND NECESSARY FOR THE IMMEDIATE PRESERVATION
OF THE PUBLIC HEALTH AND SAFETY AND HAVING BEEN
PASSED BY A YEA AND NAY VOTE, SUPPORTED BY THREE-
FIFTHS OF ALL THE MEMBERS ELECTED TO EACH OF THE
TWO HOUSES OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARY-
LAND, THE SAME SHALL TAKE EFFECT FROM THE DATE
OF ITS PASSAGE.

AN ACT to add a new section to Article 27 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1951 Edition and 1956 Supplement), title "Crimes
and Punishments", sub-title "Sabbath Breaking", said new section
to be known as Section 608B and to follow immediately after Sec-
tion 608A of said Article, authorizing the exhibition of motion
pictures within the Freedom District of Carroll County after 9
o'clock P. M. on Sundays; and to repeal all public general and
public local laws inconsistent therewith to the extent of such
inconsistency.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That a new section be and it is hereby added to Article 217 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition and 1956 Supplement),
title "Crimes and Punishments", sub-title "Sabbath Breaking", said!
new section to be known as Section 608B, to follow immediately
after Section 608A of said Article, and to read as follows:
608B. Nothing contained in Sections 578 or 605 of this Article
shall be construed to prohibit or make unlawful the exhibition within
the corporate limits of the Freedom District in Carroll County of
motion pictures after 9 o'clock P. M. on the first day of the week,
commonly called Sunday, whether the same be exhibited with or
without a charge or admission fee, provided, however, that such
