the aforesaid shall have been done. He shall further keep and care-
fully preserve all such books and papers in the office of said County
Commissioners, and shall on any secular day, not a legal holiday,
between the hours of 9 o'clock A. M. and 4 o'clock P. M., at the request
of any citizen or taxpayer of said county exhibit the same to such
person, and make and certify copies or extracts therefrom, without
charge. He shall give bond in the penalty of Ten Thousand Dollars
for the faithful performance of his duties, to be secured by a bonding
company, the premium of said bond to be paid by the County Com-
missioners and to be approved by the said Commissioner, and he
shall qualify under the State Constitution. He shall examine each
monthly, quarterly and annual report made by the County Treasurer,
and certify to the correctness of all such reports as soon as practical
thereafter. The first term of office of said official shall end on the
thirty-first day of December, 1948, and every two years thereafter
said Commissioners shall appoint such Secretary, and, unless sooner
removed for cause, he shall hold his office for two years from the
first day of January next succeeding his appointment.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1957.

(House Bill 52)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 70 (g) of
Article 48 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1956 Supplement),
title "Inspections", sub-title "State Tobacco Authority", changing
an incorrect word contained in said sub-section.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 70 (g) of Article 48 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1956 Supplement), title "Inspections", sub-title "State Tobacco Au-
thority", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, to read as follows:
70.
(g) Withdrawing baskets from sales floor.—The Authority shall
prescribe the terms and conditions under which baskets of tobacco
may be withdrawn from the sales floor [or] of warehouses.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1957.
