PLOYEES EXCEPT THE COMMISSIONERS, HEADS OF DE-
PARTMENTS AND ASSISTANT GENERAL COUNSEL, AND
TO MAKE SUCH RULES AND REGULATIONS AS ARE NECES-
SARY AND PROPER TO CARRY OUT THE PROVISIONS OF
THIS SECTION. SAID COMMISSION MAY ABOLISH, ADD TO,
CHANGE OR AMEND SUCH RULES AND REGULATIONS;
PROVIDED, HOWEVER, THAT ALL SUCH RULES AND REGU-
LATIONS AND CHANGES THEREOF SHALL BE APPROVED
BY THE STATE COMMISSIONER OF PERSONNEL.

THE TERMS OF OFFICE OF THE PRESENT MEMBERS OF
THE COMMISSION WHICH DO NOT EXPIRE IN THE CALEN-
DAR YEAR 1957 SHALL CONTINUE UNTIL SUCH TIME AS

THE APPOINTING AUTHORITIES OF THE TWO COUNTIES
SHALL DESIGNATE UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF APPOINT-
MENT HEREINBEFORE SET FORTH AT WHICH TIME
THEIR
TERMS SHALL TERMINATE.
THE TERMS OF OFFICE OF
MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION APPOINTED BY THE GOV-
ERNOR FOR SIX YEAR TERMS BEGINNING MAY 1, 1951, ARE
HEREBY EXTENDED THROUGH JUNE 14, 1957, ON WHICH
DATE SUCH TERMS SHALL TERMINATE.

THE TERMS OF OFFICE OF THE SEVERAL COMMIS-
SIONERS HOLDING OFFICE UNDER EXISTING APPOINT-
MENT SHALL EXPIRE AS OF JUNE 15, 1957, AND THE RE-
SPECTIVE GOVERNING BODIES OF MONTGOMERY AND
PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTIES SHALL APPOINT THE TEN
MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION TO SERVE FOR TERMS COM-
MENCING JUNE 15, 1957, AS PROVIDED IN THIS ACT, PRO-
VIDED THAT NOTHING SHALL BE CONSTRUED TO PRE-
VENT THE APPOINTING AUTHORITY PROVIDED HEREIN
FROM REAPPOINTING SOME OF SAID COMMISSIONERS NOW
HOLDING OFFICE TO NEW APPOINTMENTS IN ACCORD-
ANCE WITH THE PROVISIONS OF THIS ACT; AND PROVIDED
FURTHER THAT, TO PREVENT A HIATUS IN COMMISSION
FUNCTIONS, THE PRESENT COMMISSIONERS MAY CON-
TINUE IN OFFICE UNTIL THE NEW APPOINTMENTS ARE
MADE AS PROVIDED HEREIN AND SUCH APPOINTEES
QUALIFY, AT WHICH TIME THE TERMS OF PRESENT MEM-
BERS SHALL EXPIRE AND SUCH MEMBERS SHALL CEASE
TO EXERCISE ANY FUNCTIONS AS SUCH COMMISSIONERS
UNLESS THEY, OR SOME OF THEM, SHALL HAVE BEEN
APPOINTED TO SUCH NEW POSITIONS.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That Chapter 952 of the Laws
of 1945, as amended by Chapter 761 of the Laws of 1953, be and the
same is hereby repealed and reenacted with amendments as Section
II-A of the Maryland-Washington Metropolitan District Act, so as to
road as follows:

[No provision of this Chapter shall apply except to the portions of
the Maryland-Washington Regional District located in Montgomery
County or in other parts of Montgomery County.

In addition to and not in limitation of the authority and jurisdic-
tion already conferred by Chapter 992 and Chapter 1008 of the Acts
of the General Assembly of Maryland of 1943 upon the Maryland-
National Capital Park and Planning Commission:
