budget, AND ITS SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS WHICH SPECIFY

MENTS TO EFFECTUATE SALARY CHANGES AUTHORIZED
IN CASES OF ACUTE EMERGENCY IN ORDER TO PROCURE
OR TO RETAIN IN THE STATE SERVICE ESSENTIAL PRO-
FESSIONAL, TECHNICAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE PERSON-
NEL AS SET FORTH IN SECTION 25 OF ARTICLE 64A OF
THE ANNOTATED CODE OF MARYLAND (1956 SUPP.) AS
AMENDED FROM TIME TO TIME.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June JULY 1,1957.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 138 of
Article 81 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition),
title "Revenue and Taxes", sub-title "Insurance Taxes", relating
to the filing of reports of new and renewal gross direct premiums
by insurance companies with the Insurance Commissioner.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 138 of Article 81 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1951 Edition), title "Revenue and Taxes", sub-title "Insurance
Taxes", be and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:
138. Every insurance company subject to taxation under this
sub-title shall, on or before March 15th in each year, file with the
Insurance Commissioner a report of the new and renewal gross
direct premiums less return premiums written by it during the pre-
ceding calendar year, and, in the case of a company issuing perpetual
policies of fire insurance, a report of the average amount of deposits
held by it during the preceding calendar year in connection with
perpetual policies of fire insurance issued on property situated in
this State and in force during such calendar year or any part thereof.
Such reports shall be verified in such manner, and contain such in-
formation as may be prescribed by regulation of the Insurance
Commissioner.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1957.
