State and by all other public officials of the State and of any political
sub-division thereof to be evidence of the Public Local Laws of
Washington County in existence at the time of compilation.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That the Board of County
Commissioners of Washington County be and it is hereby authorized
and directed to make an appropriation to provide for the publication
of said Code; and it further is authorized to provide for the sale and
distribution of said Code.
Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1957.

(Senate Bill 73)
AN ACT to add a new section to Article 43 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1951 Edition), title "Health", under a new sub-title
"Federal Aid for Water Pollution Control", to follow immediately
after Section 576 and to be known as Section 577, providing that
the State Board of Health shall be designated as the State Water
Pollution Control Agency for the purposes of federal aid under
the Federal Water Pollution Control Act, known as Public Law
660 (84th Congress).
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That a new section be added to Article 43 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1951 Edition), title "Health", under a new sub-title
"Federal Aid for Water Pollution Control", to follow immediately
after Section 576 and to be known as Section 577, and to read as
follows:
Federal Aid for Water Pollution Control
577. The State Board of Health is hereby designated as the State
Water Pollution Control Agency in the State of Maryland for the
purposes of Public Law 660 (84th Congress), which amended the
Federal Water Pollution Control Act, as this Act and said Public
Law 660 may be amended from time to time, providing grants
to the states to assist them in meeting the cost of establishing and
maintaining adequate measures for the prevention and control of
water pollution, including grants for the construction of necessary
treatment works to prevent the discharge of untreated or inade-
quately treated sewage or other waste into any water, and for the
purpose of reports, plans and specifications in connection therewith.
There is hereby conferred upon the State Board of Health the
powers necessary for it to comply, as the State Water Pollution
Control Agency to represent the State of Maryland, with the pro-
