Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 234 (j) be and it is hereby added to Article 81 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1956 Supplement), title "Revenue and
Taxes", sub-title "State Tax Commission", said new section to follow
immediately after Section 234 (i) thereof, and to read as follows:
234. (j) The County Commissioners of Allegany County may levy
and pay such additional sum in excess of the salary established by
subsection (c) hereof to the Supervisor of Assessments of said County
as in their discretion they shall determine (not to exceed an aggre-
gate payment of salary to such Supervisor of $6,500.00); provided,
however, that the portion of said salary to be paid by the State shall
be limited to the amount prescribed in the schedules heretofore set
forth.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1957.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 80 of
Article 77 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1956 Supplement),
title "Public Education", sub-title "Chapter 5. District School
Trustees", authorizing the county board of education of Cecil
County to allow the use of their school buildings temporarily for
religious services. RELATING, IN ANNE ARUNDEL AND
CECIL COUNTIES, TO THE USE OF PUBLIC SCHOOL
HOUSES FOR SUNDAY SCHOOL PURPOSES AND CHURCH
SERVICES, AND TO USE OF PUBLIC SCHOOL GROUNDS
FOR FIREMEN'S CARNIVALS IN SAID COUNTIES.

District School Trustees", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:
Chapter 5. District School Trustees.
80. (Use of School Houses for Meetings and Other Purposes Pro-
moting Civic Welfare.) The county school superintendents of Mary-
land are hereby authorized to enlarge the usefulness and increase
the efficiency of public school property by allowing the use of public
school houses for farmers meetings, meetings of the Farmers' Educa-
tion and Co-operative Union of America, grange meetings, Maryland
Agriculture Society - Maryland Farm Bureau Federation, public
