missioners may also appoint an Assistant Treasurer, at such annual
salary as they shall fix from time to time. Any such additional sums
proposed to be paid to said Treasurer with the reasons therefor and
the proposed initial salary for the assistant Treasurer and any
proposed changes in said salary thereafter shall be published in two
or more newspapers of general circulation in Carroll County for two
successive weeks prior to final action on said proposals by the Coun-
ty Commissioners.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall not apply
to the incumbent Treasurer of Carroll County, but shall apply to the
Treasurer elected in November, 1958.
Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1957.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 119 of
the Code of Public Local Laws of Cecil County (1953 Edition),
being Article 8 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland,
title "Cecil County", sub-title "County Commissioners", said sec-
tion having been amended by Chapters 293 of the Acts of 1955,
relating generally to the obtaining of financial assistance by
volunteer fire companies in Cecil County.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 119 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Cecil County
(1953 Edition), being Article 8 of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland, title "Cecil County", sub-title "County Commissioners",
said section haying been amended by Chapter 293 of the Acts of
1955, be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments,
to read as follows:
119. The County Commissioners of Cecil County are hereby
directed to levy, on the assessable property in Cecil County, annually,
the sum of [Twenty-one Thousand Dollars ($21,000.00)] Twenty-
four Thousand Four Hundred Dollars ($24,400.00) for the purpose
of assisting in the maintenance and operation of the nine volunteer
fire companies in Cecil County, in the following amounts; provided,
that in order to be eligible for any of the following amounts, each of
the said nine volunteer fire companies named herein shall meet the
minimum specifications and standards for approval laid down by the
Harford and Cecil County Volunteer Firemen's Association.
Cecilton Fire Company, Inc., $2,400.
Hack's Point Fire Company [$1,000] $2,000.
