amending the authorization for the County Council of Baltimore
County to provide for daylight saving time in that County.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 90 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Baltimore
County (1955 Edition), being Article 3 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland, title "Baltimore County", sub-title "Daylight
Saving Time", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows.
90. For the period of each year from two A. M. of the last Sun-
day in April until two A. M. of the last Sunday in September, the
County [Commissioners] Council of Baltimore County [are] is
authorized and empowered to fix, by ordinance or resolution, the
official time of said county at one hour in advance of the standard
time of the seventy-fifth meridian, which advance in said standard
time is commonly called "Eastern Daylight Saving Time". Provided,
however, that the County Council by law passed not less than fifteen
days before the change would become effective, may extend the
period during which the one-hour variation from standard time
shall be effective in any year or years. The extension may be to
change the advance in the time up to two o'clock A. M. on the last
Sunday in March or back to two o'clock A. M. on the last Sunday in
October, or both such changes, or any portion or portions of either.
Any such extension may be provided only if other counties, munici-
palities or sections of the United States shall have made such a
change, and in the opinion of the County Council thereby have
caused inconvenience and annoyance to the commercial, economic,
industrial or social affairs of the residents of Baltimore County. If
the County [Commissioners] Council so advance the official time of
said county, all courts, public offices, legal and official proceedings
insofar as the same are subject to or under the control of said Coun-
ty [Commissioners] Council, shall be regulated, thereby, and all time
shown by the public clocks shall agree therewith.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1957.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 38 (n) of
Article 87 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition),
title "Sheriffs", sub-title "'Compensations and Duties", generally
dealing with compensation of the Sheriff and Deputy of Kent
County and authorizing the County Commissioners to grant com-
pensation for the appointment of additional deputy sheriffs in
Kent County.
