6B. The County Commissioners of Dorchester County, in addition
to, but not in substitution of, the powers which may have been or may
hereafter be granted them, shall have the full power and authority
to acquire by lease, or purchase, but not by condemnation, real or
leasehold property needed for any public purpose, and to erect build-
ings thereon for the benefit of the county, and to sell at public sale
any real or leasehold property belonging to the county when in their
discretion it is no longer needed for public use, and to execute and
acknowledge any and all deeds and/or other instruments necessary to
effect and complete such lease, purchase or sale of real or leasehold
property.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1957.

(House Bill 529)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 290 of
Article 93 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1956 Supplement),
title "Testamentary Law", sub-title "Register of Wills", providing
that the office of the Register of Wills in Frederick County may be
closed on Saturdays.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 290 of Article 93 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1956 Supplement), title "Testamentary Law," sub-title "Register of
Wills," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments,
to read as follows:
290. Attendance at office; preservation of papers; absence in
military service.
He shall attend his office daily in person or by deputy unless pre-
vented by sickness, accident or necessity for the dispatch of office
business; provided, that the offices of the registers of wills for
Caroline, Dorchester, Frederick, Montgomery, Wicomico and Wor-
cester counties may, at the discretion of the register of wills in each
such county, be closed on Saturdays; he shall lodge every original
paper and record made up by him in some repository of the court-
house of the county or city, or in such other place of safety as the
said court may appoint; and the county commissioners of the county
and mayor and city council of Baltimore shall provide and keep in
repair the said repository at the charge of the county or city. During
his term of office any register of wills absent in the military service of
the United States government during time of war shall be considered
on leave of absence without pay while in such military service and for
