334                               Laws of Maryland                        [Ch. 263

Surveyor and Engineer of Howard County, the Board of Supervisors
of Election of Howard County and the Board of License Commission-
ers of Howard County, in all matters of legal nature requiring the
services of an attorney-at-law. The said attorney shall advise said
Boards or individuals by his opinion in all legal matters referred
to him by any of said Boards or individuals, and said attorney shall
also appear in Court to prosecute or defend all suits brought by or
against any of said Boards or individuals acting in his, their or its
official capacity.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby declared
to be an emergency measure and necessary for the immediate preser-
vation of the public health and safety, and having been passed by
a yea and nay vote, supported by three-fifths of all of the members
elected to each of the two Houses of the General Assembly of Mary-
land, the same shall take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 263
(House Bill 348)

AN ACT to add new Section 797A to the Code of Public Local Laws
of Prince George's County (1953 Edition) being Article 17 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Prince George's
County", sub-title "Hotels, Tourist Homes, etc.", to follow im-
mediately after Section 797 thereof, providing for registration of
guests at hotels and tourist homes and impowering the Board of
County Commissioners of Prince George's County to regulate the
same.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 797A, be and it is hereby added to the Code of Public
Local Laws of Prince George's County (1953 Edition) being Article
17 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Prince
George's County", sub-title "Hotels, Tourist Homes, etc.", to follow
immediately after Section 797 thereof, and to read as follows:

797A. (a) Any person who owns or operates a hotel, rooming
house, tourist home, motel or tourist cabin park within the county
shall maintain therein a permanent register in which shall be in-
scribed in ink in legible writing the name and residence address, in-
cluding state, city or town and street and street number or rural mail
delivery route number, of each guest who occupies or engages sleeping
facilities within any such establishment, the number of the room or
facility occupied by such guest and the date and time of registration
and of checkout of each such guest; and in tourist homes, motels and
tourist cabin parks there shall be included in such register a record of
the license plate numbers and state of registration of any automobiles
