CHAPTER 164
(Senate Bill 378)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 14 of
Article 62 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1956 Supple-
ment), title "Marriages", adding Harford County to the list of
counties charging an additional marriage license fee to be paid
into the general fund of Harford County.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 14 of Article 62 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1956 Supplement), title "Marriages", be and it is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

14. Fees for Marriage License.

When one or both parties are residents of the State of Maryland,
the clerk of the court shall receive two dollars for every license is-
sued as aforesaid and for the performance of the other duties re-
quired by this article; where both parties are nonresidents of the
State of Maryland, the said clerk shall receive three dollars for
every license so issued. In Baltimore, Caroline, Cecil, Dorchester,
Garrett, Harford, Howard, Montgomery and Washington counties,
and in Baltimore City, said clerks shall be paid an additional two
dollars for every license and shall remit monthly the proceeds of
said additional fee to the county treasurer of their respective coun-
ties at the end of every month for use as general funds of said
county; except that the clerk of the court of common pleas of Balti-
more City shall remit and shall include the proceeds of the additional
fee in his annual return to the State Comptroller of all his fees,
emoluments and receipts under the provisions of Section 26 of Ar-
ticle 17 of this Code.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1957.

CHAPTER 165

(Senate Bill 381)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 627A of
Article 27 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1956 Supplement),
title "Crimes and Punishments", sub-title "Taxicabs", providing
that the crime of refusal to pay fare in taxicabs and other common
carriers shall apply also to Talbot County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 627A of Article 27 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
