sioners", sub-title "Public Roads", said new section to follow immedi-
ately after Section 127 thereof, and to read as follows:
127A. Whenever for the purpose of building a new road, improving
or widening any existing roads and drainage thereof, it shall become
necessary to condemn any land or any interest in, under or over the
same, it shall be lawful for the County Commissioners of Washington
County to acquire by condemnation said land by following the pro-
cedures set out in Article S3 A of this Code.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby declared
to be an emergency measure and necessary for the immediate preser-
vation of the public health and safety and having been passed by a
yea and nay vote, supported by three-fifths of all the members elected
to each of the two Houses of the General Assembly of Maryland, the
same shall take effect from the date of its passage.
SEC. 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, THAT THIS ACT
SHALL TAKE EFFECT JUNE 1, 1957.

(House Bill 377)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 124 of
Article 25 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition), title
"County Commissioners", sub-title "Public Roads", relating to the
opening or altering of roads in Queen Anne's County.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 124 of Article 25 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1951 Edition), title "County Commissioners", sub-title "Public
Roads", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, to read as follows:
124. All applications for opening, altering or closing roads shall
be by petition to the county commissioners. Provided that the pro-
cedures in this sub-title as to opening or altering of roads shall not
be applicable in Queen Anne's County.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1957.
