(Senate Joint Resolution 24)

Senate Joint Resolution supporting United States Senator J. Glenn
Beall's bill introduced in the Senate of the United States designed
to preserve the Frigate Constellation as part of the Fort McHenry
National Shrine.

Whereas, The Frigate Constellation played a large role in the
early history of the United States of America in helping gain liberty
and independence for this Country; and

Whereas, The Frigate Constellation stands as a memorial to those
pioneers who fought and died to establish the freedom which we
cherish and revere, today; and

Whereas, The Frigate Constellation should be maintained and
preserved as part of the Fort McHenry National Shrine so that we
may, in future days, look upon and realize the sacrifices made and
the ideals fought for by our founding fathers; and

Whereas, United States Senator J. Glenn Beall has introduced a
bill into the Senate of the United States designed to have the Frigate
Constellation preserved as part of the Fort McHenry National Shrine;
now, therefore, be it

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That this body
support United States Senator J. Glenn Beall's bill, introduced in the
Senate of the United States designed to preserve the Frigate Con-
stellation as part of the Fort McHenry National Shrine; and be it
further

Resolved, That the Secretary of State, be and he is hereby directed
to send copies of this resolution, under the Great Seal of the State
of Maryland to United States Senators John Marshall Butler and
J. Glenn Beall, and to the Maryland Members of the House of Repre-
sentatives of the United States Congress.

Approved March 28, 1957.
