shall receive $1800.00 per year in addition to the compensation re-
ceived when actually sitting as a substitute as hereinafter provided,
and except the substitute magistrate appointed for Kent and Somer-
set counties, who shall receive five hundred dollars ($500.00) per
year in addition to the compensation received when actually sitting
as a substitute, as hereinafter provided, and except the substitute
magistrate appointed for Prince George's County, who shall receive
$1,300.00 per year, in addition to the compensation received when
actually sitting as a substitute, as hereinafter provided, and except
the substitute magistrate appointed for Cecil County, who shall
receive $300.00 per year in addition to the compensation received
when actually sitting as a substitute, as hereinafter provided. And
in Wicomico County said substitute trial magistrate shall receive a
salary of $800.00 per year.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby declared
to be an emergency measure and necessary for the immediate preser
-

vation of the public health and safety, and having been passed by

a yea and nay vote, supported by three fifths of all the members

elected to each his two Houses of the General Assembly of Mary-

land, the same shall take effect from the date of its passage.

SEC. 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, THAT THIS ACT
SHALL TAKE EFFECT JUNE 1, 1957.

(House Bill 908)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 100 (3)
Baltimore County, of Article 52 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1951 Edition—1956 Supplement), title "Justices of the
Peace", sub-title "Trial Magistrates System", increasing CON-
TINUING the annual salaries of Trial Magistrates in Baltimore
County.

WHEREAS, THE MINIMUM SALARIES PROVIDED BY LAW
FOR TRIAL MAGISTRATES IN BALTIMORE COUNTY HAVE
BEEN AND ARE BEING SUPPLEMENTED PURSUANT TO
THE PROVISIONS OF SECTION 103 OF ARTICLE 52 OF THE
ANNOTATED CODE OF MARYLAND (1951 ED.), AND IT IS
DESIRABLE THAT THE ACTUAL SALARIES PAID SAID
MAGISTRATES BE EXPRESSED IN LAW AND SUCH EXPRES-
SION IS NECESSARY TO ASSURE THE CONTINUANCE OF
SAID SALARIES AT THEIR PRESENT LEVEL WITHOUT
DIMINUTION IN THE INTEREST OF THE EFFICIENT AD-
MINISTRATION OF JUSTICE IN BALTIMORE COUNTY; NOW,
THEREFORE

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 100 (3) Baltimore County, of Article 52 of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition—1956 Supplement), title
