provided further that, except for the application of such funds, the
County shall in each fiscal year, pursuant to Section 167 (a) (1),
budget an amount sufficient to meet the debt service requirements
of the bonds hereby authorized, as above provided.
Sec. 10. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1957.

CHAPTER 824
(House Bill 907)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 111 (a)
of Article 52 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition—
1956 Supplement), title "Justices of the Peace", sub-title "Trial
Magistrates System", increasing the number of substitute trial
magistrates in Baltimore County from two to three and increasing
CONTINUING their annual salaries.
WHEREAS, THE MINIMUM SALARIES PROVIDED BY LAW
FOR SUBSTITUTE TRIAL MAGISTRATES IN BALTIMORE
COUNTY HAVE BEEN AND ARE BEING SUPPLEMENTED
PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF SECTION 103 OF ARTI-
CLE 52 OF THE ANNOTATED CODE OF MARYLAND (1951
EDITION), AND IT IS DESIRABLE THAT THE ACTUAL SAL-
ARIES PAID SAID SUBSTITUTE TRIAL MAGISTRATES BE
EXPRESSED IN LAW AND SUCH EXPRESSION IS NECES-
SARY TO ASSURE THE CONTINUANCE OF SAID SALARIES
AT THEIR PRESENT LEVEL WITHOUT DIMINUTION IN THE
INTERESTS OF THE EFFICIENT ADMINISTRATION OF JUS-
TICE IN BALTIMORE COUNTY.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 111 (a) of Article 52 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1951 Edition—1956 Supplement), title "Justices of the Peace",
sub-title "Trial Magistrates System", be and it is hereby repealed and
re-enacted, with amendments to read as follows:
111. (a) (Appointment; Bonds; Compensation.) In addition to
the justices of the peace and justices of the peace at large herein-
before specified, the Governor, by and with the advice and consent of
the Senate, shall appoint one justice of the peace at large for each
county of the State, except Montgomery County, who shall be desig-
nated "substitute trial magistrate". Such magistrate shall post the
bond required of trial magistrates and shall receive a salary of $100.00
per year, [except there shall be two substitute magistrates appointed
for Baltimore County, each of whom shall receive $1,000.00 per year
in addition to the compensation received when actually sitting as a
substitute as hereinafter provided,] except there shall be three sub-
stitute magistrates appointed for Baltimore County, each of whom
