ON MARYLAND FARMS OR FOR WORK INCIDENTAL TO
SEASONAL CROP OPERATIONS ON MARYLAND FARMS
WHEN SUCH VEHICLE IS BEING USED AS AN INCIDENTAL
PART OF HARVESTING OPERATIONS WITHIN A DISTANCE
OF NOT MORE THAN THIRTY-FIVE MILES FROM THE
SOURCE OF THE CROP BEING HARVESTED and when the
owner of such vehicle has secured from the Department of Motor
Vehicles an exemption permit for each such vehicle. The Depart-
ment, upon receipt of certification by the Superintendent of the
Maryland State Police that such vehicle is entitled to the exemption
set forth in this sub-section shall issue such exemption permit on a
form to be prescribed by him, which shall be carried at all times by
the operator of the vehicle for which it is issued or in a conspicuous
place on such vehicle. Such exemption permit shall be valid for a
period of ninety (90) days from the date of issue and shall be eligible
for renewal FOR AN ADDITIONAL PERIOD NOT EXCEEDING
NINETY (90) DAYS IN ANY ONE CALENDAR YEAR by the
procedure set forth above. THE SUPERINTENDENT OF THE
MARYLAND STATE POLICE MAY REQUIRE A CERTIFICATE
OF INSPECTION OF THE MECHANISM AND EQUIPMENT OF
SUCH MOTOR VEHICLE AND MAY SHALL FURTHER RE-
QUIRE A CERTIFICATE OF INSURANCE BY A COMPANY
AUTHORIZED TO DO BUSINESS IN THE STATE OF MARY-
LAND, CERTIFYING THAT SUCH MOTOR VEHICLE IS IN-
SURED TO THE SAME EXTENT AS IS REQUIRED FOR MARY-
LAND RESIDENTS.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1957.

CHAPTER 755
(House Bill 32)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section 85 of
Article 65 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1956 Supplement),
title "Militia", sub-title "Re-employment of Persons in Military
Service", generally amending the laws of the State of Maryland
and of the City of Baltimore or any other political subdivision of
this State, to provide the employees of such, who fulfill or have
fulfilled requirements of military service under the United States,
with service credit under the retirement systems of the afore-
mentioned places for the period that such required military service
causes interruption of employment by such agency or agencies; and
extending the provisions of this section for two years.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 85 of Article 65 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
